AMSlab and Red Cross participate in the reforestation of Monte de Toca in Samos
Monte de Toca (in the municipality of Samos, Lugo) was the victim of the serious wave of fires that affected the Galician community in October 2017 and caused great environmental losses.
The Red Cross of Lugo has promoted a reforestation initiative in which we also wanted to contribute our grain of sand. The aim of this action is, in addition to reforesting with native trees the land devastated by the fires, to offset the CO2 emissions of the companies participating in the action through the reforestation of 8 hectares of this mountain of great environmental value.
So, last weekend we went there to plant native species such as oak, chestnut, birch, cherry, and beech trees. Now Monte de Toca is once again coming to life and showing off the green colour it should never have lost.
The reforestation formulated for this project involves:
- An improvement of the habitat of the area for the wild species of the place.
- The improvement of the soil and its protection.
- Improved diversity.
- Better defense against fires.
It was a very special day and we are really pleased to be part of this great +CO(mpensa)2 project.
We would like to thank the Red Cross of Lugo for involving us in this initiative and also our colleagues from the AMSlab Group and the other companies from Lugo who traveled there.
